How do we make sure we teach every single standard to our students before state testing?
One of the biggest stressors as a Math teacher is making sure we teach every. single. standard. But that’s not always possible and it doesn’t always happen. If you are anything like me, there are certain Math concepts that I don’t always get to (hello Geometry and Statistics/Probability!). Not because I don’t wanna teach it, but simply because I run out of time before the state test! So how do you ensure that you expose your students every single standard, even if you can’t/don’t necessarily dive deep into each standard?
Enter this Tic Tac Math Spiral Review activity.
Each page consists of 9 questions each so totally doable and NOT overwhelming! All the questions on the perimeter of the page are multiple choice and the center question is an open ended questions. This is done on purpose to expose our students to both type of questions. This activity is modeled after Tic Tac Toe so you can have your students play in pairs, with one student as X and one student as O. Or you can give this resource as an individual activity.
In total, the entire resource consists of 10 pages with a total of 90 questions that covers EVERY SINGLE STANDARD for grades 6 and 7. By giving your students every page (over the course of a few weeks), you can know that you have fully exposed your students to each standard, even if you can’t teach every standard with depth. You can feel good that your students have been exposed to the standard, language, and a few practice problems for each standard before going into the state test.
